Although the patient only be able to speak a few words in general, can sing.

Yes, I know it sounds crazy, but try it.
Encourage them to sing his favorite song.
Later, you can learn to sing "to their needs.

If the stroke victim can nod, can point to any page element, shakes his head and wonder if that's what he wants. The stroke victim May nod when stressed what she wants. It is a simple way to make their common demands. This resourse I found online and has significantly contributed to our family situation.
